VILLASTELLONE, Italy – 16th May 2018 – PETRONAS Lubricants International, in support of developing high-potential motorsports talents entered into a sponsorship with the new Rosberg Young Drivers Academy, a talent development effort designed by 2016 F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg and his former karting mentor Dino Chiesa of Kart Republic. The partnership was announced last month at the launch of the Academy at the Naples International Circuit of Sarno (Italy) to mark the kick-off of two young drivers’s career.

PLI will support the team through the supply of PETRONAS Rocklube engine oil, an innovative formula tailor-made for karting use   and designed to develop maximum engine performance even at very high speeds, maintaining full reliability. PETRONAS Rocklube is designed to deliver the best performance for karts and the result of PLI’s expertise in developing Fluid Technology Solutions™ — our approach to customised products and services anchored on technology.

Nico Rosberg commented: “I am really happy to work with PETRONAS again. We have known each other for a long time and won 23 races together, including my Formula One World Championship title in 2016. It is great to have them onboard in search of new talents as my dream is to help a driver reach the very top of motorsport.”

“We are pleased to join Nico Rosberg in his new Rosberg Young Drivers Academy and Dino Chiesa who has developed many drivers currently competing in F1. Karting is a preparatory discipline for a demanding category such as Formula One and other high-level motorsports.  But more than that, karting is also a platform that pays great attention to the personal development, train and nurture young people to excel. The Rosberg Young Drivers Academy is also in line with PLI’s Leaders in Training (LiT) programme, an exclusive training initiative to nurture top-notch graduates and build a medium and long-term pool of young talents in various business-related fields,” added, Giuseppe D’Arrigo, Group CEO and Managing Director of PETRONAS Lubricants International.
